The MDConnect team is divided into the Project Management Office (PMO) and eight pillars. Each pillar is responsible for specific duties, functions, and deliverables. Some teams have cross-functional responsibility because they actively support all MDConnect pillars. Read the section below for more details including a pillar description, lead contact information, and functions that will go-live as MDC implements PeopleSoft.
Campus Solutions Pillar (CS)
The Campus Solutions pillar, one of the functional pillars, is a fully integrated PeopleSoft solution that will address the College’s business needs to provide services like course registration, grade reporting, student recordkeeping, enrollment processing, financial aid, student billing, and degree auditing.
Financial Supply Chain Pillar (FSCM)
The Finance pillar, a functional pillar, supports the business processes for financial transactions, as well as recording the activities related to Grants Management, Projects Costing, Non-Student Billing and the procure to pay functions. It delivers greater visibility into business-critical information with inquiries and reporting capabilities.
Human Capital Management Pillar (HCM)
The Human Capital Management pillar is one of the functional pillars of the ERP project and the PeopleSoft (PS) software. HCM is the central repository where employee, job, position, compensation, payroll and benefit information are kept. The information is shared with the other PS modules (i.e., Finance and Campus Solutions).
MDC needs a modern comprehensive toolset for budget development, monitoring and adjustment, tuition modeling and financial reporting and analysis. As part of the ERP project, the College acquired the Oracle Hyperion software. Hyperion is a multi-dimensional data base. It is mainly designed as financial tool, but will contain data from the functional pillars (Finance, Human Capital Management and Campus Solution). The MDConnect implementation includes Hyperion to support the much needed financial planning and reporting functionality. The first functionality of Hyperion will go live January 2016 with additional functionality to follow.
Organizational Change Management Pillar (OCM)
Organizational Change Management is a cross-functional pillar supporting Campus Solution’s, Financials, and Human Capital Management’s adoption and sustainability of the change initiatives related to the new ERP system. It encompasses an integrated approach to communications, engagement and preparation, capability transfer, and end-user training.
Security is a cross-functional pillar supporting Campus Solutions, Financials, and Human Capital Management’s security, privacy and controls related to PeopleSoft, including: User Preference options, Security roles, Permission Lists, Segregation of Duties (SOD) rules, Directory Integration, Identity and Access Management integration (including Single Sign-on), and Query Security.
Technical Development Pillar
Technical Development is a cross-functional pillar supporting Campus Solutions, Financials, and Human Capital Management’s approach to design, develop, test software components required for the system applications.
Technical Infrastructure Pillar
Technical Infrastructure is a cross-functional pillar supporting Campus Solutions, Financials, and Human Capital Management’s approach to operate the infrastructure components required for the system applications.
